1. You say "young(ish)". Is that at heart or on my driver's license?
The Next Leaders Network is open to anyone who thinks the network is appropriate for them. We are inclusive rather than exclusive and would like you to decide if it is an association that will create value for you. We fully expect to have members who are 19, members who are 25, and members who are past 40. It's as much about progress in your career as it is about age.
2. What if I am a student and not employed in the not-for-profit sector?
Students are very welcome to join the Next Leaders Network. The content of educational offerings will primarily target those who work in the sector, or plan to, but there will be value to a variety of individuals for a variety of reasons. It's a decision for you to make, but our stance is "the more, the merrier"!
3. What if I'm not sure I want to continue my career in the sector?
Then we think Next Leaders is perfect for you. We know that the lines between the sectors are increasingly fluid. This association of peers will give you access to those in your shoes and those who walked in your shoes in the past. You can explore your career options and find individuals with an understanding of your questions. Next Leaders is about career development, and that very much includes career exploration.
4. What if I'm a volunteer or board member in the sector, but not paid staff?
You're very welcome, too! Many find themselves working in the sector and contributing to great leadership in our community, without necessarily taking home a paycheque. This is about community leadership, and if you fit that role, we're not concerned about your pay grade. That said, many Network activities will begin with the not-for-profit professional in mind, and some may have more relevance for you than others.
5. Will student rates apply to full-time and part-time students?
You bet!
