Board Members

Supporting your growth as a board member.

Serving as a board member is one of the most challenging and rewarding volunteer experiences and an effective board can strengthen a not-for-profit organization in many different ways. Vantage Point offers you important information and opportunities to develop your particular skills, talents and resources.

SOAR is a way to set goals based on the organizational practice of Appreciative Inquiry (AI). This vision-based approach of open dialogue invites organizational members to learn and value their personal histories, the history of their organization and its culture. The AI approach allows them to:

  • Build on their strengths (the positive core).
  • Discover opportunities.
  • Visualize goals and strategic alternatives.
  • Identify enabling objectives.

Governance happens in board meetings. It’s time to make them engaging and effective.

This workshop is targeted to board members who want to learn the basics of fundraising and how to develop a culture of fund development within their organization.

The Societies Act sets the legal framework for the majority of charitable and not-for-profit organizations operating in BC. Are you in compliance?
