Board Fundamentals: Tools for Effective Board Meetings

Good governance starts in board meetings.

On average, board members spend less than 25 hours per year together at the board table. Make them matter.

Board meetings are a place of catalytic energy: they are where new ideas take shape, key strategic questions are explored, and governance springs into action. But, if meetings aren’t engaging or well-designed, the board table can become a place where talent is wasted, routine kills creativity, and board members become bored members.

Who Should Attend

Board Chairs, board members, executive directors, and other senior leaders who want to have greater confidence around the board table.

This workshop will provide concrete tools to focus your meetings on what matters:

  • Meeting structure & leadership
  • Designing agendas & reports
  • Critical Conversations and Decision-making
  • Best practices for meeting minutes

Participants are encouraged to bring a copy of their existing board meeting agendas to review.
