Provincial Outreach Coordinator
Joyce is the Provincial Outreach Coordinator for Vantage Point – she makes sure not-for-profits outside Metro Vancouver are supported and has access to high value resources. She loves facilitating community-led development with an asset-based lens. Joyce cares deeply about concepts of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, taking an intergenerational approach in all her work. She has always worked in community development: before joining Vantage Point, she volunteered in the community as a student and continued in her career with neighborhood houses doing youth and settlement work. From there she moved to disability employment and eventually found herself here!
Outside of Vantage Point, Joyce enjoys grocery shopping and putting all the ingredients together in a delicious meal. She also enjoys watching Brooklyn 99, reading, and biking (although admits she doesn’t often have time for the bike). Joyce is passionate about creating spaces for people of colour to better participate in community; specifically, around education, employment, and volunteerism. Before she retires, she wants to see a better not-for-profit sector where workers don’t have to feel like they’re sacrificing decent work for doing good. Ask Joyce about what she’s reading, her latest and greatest kitchen concoction, or why Richmond isn’t really as bad as people think it is.
