About
Dorla Tune
Organizational Consultant
Dorla Tune is our Organizational Consultant who supports and strengthens our training, planning, and consulting services. Dorla has over 20 years’ experience in the not-for-profit sector which spans across multiple provinces and organizations. She started in Ontario where she graduated from McMaster University with a combined Bachelor of Social Work and Sociology degree. Her career began working in women’s shelters and the Children’s Aid Society before taking on her first role in a settlement organization serving newcomers. After moving to Vancouver in 2008, Dorla continued working in the settlement sector at North Shore Multicultural Society and MOSAIC. She then shifted into a year of independent consulting when she worked with the Burnaby Division of Family Practice. From there, she worked with United Way of the Lower Mainland as Community Impact Planner - which she says was a “great opportunity to understand and work with not-for-profit organizations across the region and connect with people in the sector.” Most recently Dorla enjoyed working as the Director of Community Programs at Kiwassa Neighbourhood House before finding her way to Vantage Point! Dorla is passionate about community development, social justice, and equity. She values building relationships and strategically connecting people in ways that support equity-seeking groups and communities to collectively work with their strengths to move forward. With her diverse experiences within the sector, Dorla brings important skills to the team such as cross-sector relationship management, convening, facilitation, and senior leadership experience. She cares about relationships from an authentic, personal point of view. “It is critical to understand what is important to people by not just listening, but also taking in the larger contextual circumstances that are impacting their daily lives.” Outside work, she recently obtained her Master Practitioner Reiki certification and enjoys doing Reiki for herself, family, and friends. Besides Reiki, you might find Dorla watching Scandinavian cop dramas or horror movies on Netflix! If she could go anywhere in the world, it would be to visit her friend’s property, a future farm to table eatery in Jamaica that borders the Great River. Chat with Dorla about all things Rihanna, Steven King, or just about any good read.
